Partnering with Youth to Analyze and Interpret Qualitative Data

Abstract Information: In this session, we will demonstrate how to engage youth in analyzing and interpreting qualitative data. We will (a) highlight our approach and the steps we took to make sure youth could meaningfully engage in qualitative data analysis, (b) review a protocol we use to engage youth in qualitative data analysis, (c) demonstrate how we use the protocol with attendees to provide them with hands-on experience, and (d) discuss opportunities and challenges to using this protocol that we have learned in our work. Throughout the demonstration, there will be opportunities to ask questions and for attendees to share their own expertise. Attendees will walk away with a copy of the protocol and additional resources that they can use in their own projects.
