Abstract Information: Extension professionals play a pivotal role in translating research into actionable programs and resources that address the needs of communities. The efficacy and impact of these initiatives can be greatly enhanced through the incorporation of conceptual and theoretical frameworks. This session will discuss the critical importance of extension evaluators in guiding extension educators, faculty, and specialists to incorporate conceptual and theoretical frameworks within their programming, outreach, and resource creation activities. Integrating conceptual and theoretical frameworks offers a structured approach to program development, enabling practitioners to articulate a clear theory of change, establish goals and objectives, delineate key activities, and identify desired outcomes and impacts. By grounding their work in established frameworks, practitioners can better understand the underlying mechanisms driving behavior change and tailor interventions and resources accordingly. Moreover, utilizing frameworks facilitates the alignment of program activities with overarching objectives, enhancing program coherence and effectiveness. Extension evaluators play a crucial role in guiding practitioners through this process, providing expertise in selecting and applying relevant frameworks to specific contexts. Through cooperative learning approaches grounded in principles of positive interdependence, individual accountability, group processing, and prosocial engagement, extension evaluators can facilitate collaborative learning experiences that empower practitioners to incorporate conceptual and theoretical frameworks into their work. Whether through face-to-face interactions or virtual platforms like Zoom, these cooperative learning sessions foster knowledge exchange, skill-building, and mutual support among participants, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement within extension organizations. Furthermore, extension evaluators assist practitioners in translating their work into reports, research publications, grants, and additional programming by helping them articulate the conceptual and theoretical underpinnings of their interventions and demonstrating the impact of their efforts. By integrating evidence-based frameworks into program documentation and dissemination materials, practitioners can enhance the credibility and rigor of their work, making it more compelling to funders, policymakers, and other stakeholders. This session will illustrate and discuss a strategy for using a cooperative learning approach to supporting the incorporation of conceptual and theoretical frameworks into extension programming and evaluation activities. Through practical examples and interactive discussions, participants will gain actionable insights to enhance their capacity for utilizing a cooperative learning approach to help extension educators, faculty, and specialists incorporate conceptual and theoretical frameworks, ultimately strengthening the impact and sustainability of extension initiatives in community settings.
