Birds of a Feather
Education Evaluation
Join us for an engaging session where we delve into the intricacies of measuring student motivation, engagement, and belonging within educational evaluation contexts. In this gathering, participants will have the opportunity to share insights, challenges, and innovative approaches to operationalizing these essential constructs.
As K-12 evaluation professionals, educators, and researchers studying digital learning platforms in mathematics education, we recognize the significance of understanding and assessing the factors that contribute to students' success and well-being in educational settings. Motivation, engagement, and belonging play pivotal roles in shaping students' classroom learning experiences and outcomes (Matthews & Wilson, 2016; Young & Cunningham, 2021). However, measuring these constructs effectively poses unique methodological and practical challenges.
Participants will ultimately contribute to a deeper understanding of how evaluation efforts can effectively capture and promote student engagement, motivation, and belonging in K-12 education. By collectively addressing these issues, we can work towards creating more inclusive and supportive learning environments where all students have the opportunity to thrive.
