Stream: Professional Development and Leadership

1:30 PM - 2:00 PM PST
Location: Exhibit Hall A
Abstract Information: This session aims to connect evaluators at all levels, with a particular focus on emerging evaluators. The goal is to facilitate discussions on how personal identities influence and shape experiences within equitable evaluation work. Rather than delving deeply into Equitable Evaluation (EE) principles, the emphasis is on sharing reflections and learning from one another regarding how identity and past experiences impact evaluation practices. Some guiding questions for the group include: What social identities/groups do I belong to, and which ones are most significant to me? What identity or identities do I think influence, challenge, or appear in my work the most? How do these intersect, enhance, or conflict my perceived role as an evaluator? What tools can assist in self-reflection on my identities and positionality within my work? How can we continuously self-reflect throughout a project? By the end of the discussion, participants should gain a deeper understanding of how social identity shapes evaluations. They will also take away strategies, ideas, and lessons learned from collective wisdom to better support their journey toward equitable evaluation.
