Abstract Information: Advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence have revolutionized the analysis of textual data, offering researchers and evaluators unprecedented capabilities at reduced costs. Building the skills and competencies to facilitate their use within organizations can enhance both buy in and participation from non-technical experts. Further, it can enable organizations to make greater sense of available data, helping to align resources towards the mission of the organization. In this presentation, we will illustrate how Global Fund for Women harnesses these technologies within an iterative, participatory analysis model to identify emerging movements. Our approach emphasizes inclusivity, involving linguistically and culturally diverse stakeholders in the analysis and interpretation phase, thereby fostering a deeply participative and empowering environment.
Moreover, we will showcase how such analyses play a pivotal role in informing critical organizational decisions regarding resource allocation, while nurturing a culture of learning and data-driven decision-making. As part of the evaluation team at the Global Fund for Women, this project epitomizes the transformative potential of evaluative thinking, systematic exploration, and technological innovation in fostering a culture of data-informed decision-making. By engaging key stakeholders throughout the adoption and adaptation process, we demonstrate how these advancements can be seamlessly integrated into broader decision-making frameworks, all while respecting and valuing the unique expertise and experiences across our organization.
