Abstract Information: Through the Ignite format, this presentation explores the reflective experience of a new evaluator who supported then led the evaluation of a co-developed intergovernmental housing benefit. As the benefit is a direct-to-beneficiary strategy to address the current housing crisis, it presented a unique opportunity to highlight the voices typically unheard in federal housing program evaluations through a survey of beneficiaries. This presentation will encourage the fostering or reflective practive for new evaluators in positions of leadership and change. From the perspective of a new evaluator, this presentation is a reflection on their first-time leading an evaluation and incorporating the perspectives of those with lived experience. Reflective practice enables a more comprehensive and holistic understanding of the lessons learned through the evaluation, including; administration of the survey, fostering intergovernmental relationships, connecting with beneficiaries, colleague/manager support, learning opportunities, conflicts, mistakes, and self-development. A reflective look on the challenges and successes faced during this evaluation provide a base understanding on how to support new evaluators in leadership positions and in navigating different approaches to evaluation.
