Thomas Scialfa is a specialist in monitoring, evaluation, and learning with strong analytic, planning, coordination and results-oriented leadership skills. He has more than 40 years of progressive advancement in leading teams and providing technical assistance with a focus on increasing the quality, usefulness and usability of data from studies and routine data sources. During his career, he has worked for Tulane University, several U.N. agencies, USAID, the CDC, Westat and, currently, Mercy Corps where he serves as the Senior Technical Lead for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning. He also worked as a consultant for a variety of clients. Currently based in the USA, he has previously worked while living in Tanzania, Madagascar, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Rwanda for 17 years of his professional life; he has worked in dozens of other countries worldwide. As a creative thinker, he draws from multiple sectors for opportunity identification and problem solving and he brings diverse perspectives from having worked for implementing agencies, funding agencies, and national and global coordinating entities. He speaks English, French and Swahili. His experience and competencies are in: Evaluation Research, Project and Strategic Planning, Team Building, Training and Mentoring, Project Monitoring and Management, Data Analysis and visual presentation of qualitative and quantitative data, Institutional Capacity Building, and Knowledge Management.
