Christopher Bland is a Program Coordinator and Asthma Educator at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. More specifically he coordinates the Region 2 Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit, a US Environmental Protection Agency and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) program that provides environmental health services to communities in New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. He also serves as the Clinical coordinator for the New York State DOH funded New York State Children’s Environmental Health Centers, the first state-wide, publicly funded model for children’s environmental health clinical services in the United States. Christopher’s primary day-to-day role is coordinating the center’s telehealth medicine program for pediatric asthma patients. He counsels caregivers of children with asthma on how to manage asthma, reduce environmental triggers, and minimize its impact on quality of life. He supports the work of the Centers by helping to evaluate program initiatives and integrate public health education to neighboring communities. His expertise lies in program evaluation, statistical analysis, toxic environmental exposures, and environmental justice.
