Director of Research and Learning
Oregon Community Foundation, United States
Kimberlee Salmond, MPP, is the Director of Research and Learning at the Oregon Community Foundation. She finds joy in the application of research and its use to advance equity. Her and the team’s work informs OCF priorities and activities through evaluations that help understand the impact of grantmaking and other philanthropic efforts; internal reflection on foundation practices and policies; and original research on topic areas, regions, and populations relevant to Oregon, all grounded in principles of equity, relationship building and collaboration, and learning and inquiry. You can learn more about how the Equitable Evaluation Initiative has shaped the team’s practice here: https://scholarworks.gvsu.edu/tfr/vol15/iss3/7/.
Before joining OCF, Kimberlee was the VP of Research at Girl Scouts of the USA, where she led formative and evaluative research on girls to inform program development and understand the impact of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, including the revision of the national Girl Scout outcomes measurement model. Previous professional experience also includes Families and Work Institute, where she co-authored the Ask the Children research series with Ellen Galinsky, Re:Gender (formerly the National Council for Research on Women), and the Legislative Commission on the Economic Status of Women in Minnesota. She has a master’s degree in women and public policy from the University of Minnesota and studied political science at Kalamazoo College in Michigan.
Looking forward, Kimberlee is most excited about deepening ties with communities across Oregon and continuing to explore her (relatively) new home state with the family dog, Frances.
