Emma Maceda-Maria is a dedicated community leader hailing from Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. A indigenous woman with a deep commitment to environmental and social justice, Emma has been part of the "Fun to Catch, Toxic to Eat" program since 2016. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she was invited to join the Community Navigators program with Public Health, further solidifying her role as a trusted advocate within her community.
Emma wears many hats, all of which focus on empowering and educating her community. She is passionate about raising awareness on critical environmental health issues and social determinants of health, with a particular emphasis on uplifting the voices of BIPOC communities. Emma is committed to breaking down barriers and building bridges between communities and agencies, fostering collaboration and understanding.
Through her work, Emma hopes to inspire and empower her community to take proactive steps in safeguarding their health and the well-being of their loved ones. Her long-term goal is to continue growing as a trusted leader, creating pathways for others who share her vision of justice and equity.
Emma lives in South Seattle with her partner and three children. When she is not working, she enjoys watching movies, playing at the park, dancing, and spending quality time with her kids and family. She cherishes the moments spent cuddling with her children while watching movies.
