Kumbie Madondo, PhD (Co-PI) is the Director for the Center for Community Partnerships and Policy Solutions at NYAM, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sociology at the City University of New York. She has methodological expertise in evaluating the implementation and outcomes of systems change and place-based efforts to enhance well-being and advance equity. This work has spanned the areas of health disparities and social determinants of health; poverty and community engagement. Dr. Madondo brings a wealth of experience working with nonprofits, foundations, and government agencies. She has a proven track record of translating data, research, and evaluation findings into actionable improvements focused on policy change, community engagement, and leadership development. Dr. Madondo supports several projects evaluating complex system transformation initiatives. Currently, she is evaluating the impact of removing race from algorithms used in certain medical specialties (kidney, lung, and pregnancy care) at five safety-hospitals. She is also evaluating the Health and Age Across All Policies, a learning collaborative funded by the New York State Aging Department that seeks to encourage state agencies in New York to consider healthy aging in all their policies. Additionally, she was also the lead evaluator on a learning collaborative funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention seeking to bring together diverse stakeholders from across the nation to address HIV/AIDS disparities among African American/Blacks and Hispanics/Latino.
