Senior Strategist
Grassroots Solutions, United States
Katie Fox, MPPA, MRP, is a Senior Strategist with Grassroots Solutions, based in Silver Spring, Maryland. Katie joined Grassroots Solutions in September 2021 and brings over 17 years of experience in social justice evaluation, grant-making, organizing, and advocacy. The throughline of Katie's career is a deep drive to get more and better support to grassroots organizing and movements. Grassroots-led change has long played an important role in creating a more just and equitable world but continues to be underinvested in by the philanthropic sector. Since 2018, Katie has been creating and sharing guidance on the evaluation of grassroots social movements, organizing, and power building. Through evaluation consulting, training, coaching, thought pieces, and presentations, Katie galvanizes the evaluation and philanthropic sectors to better understand and value grassroots work.
Prior to Grassroots Solutions, Katie was the Principal Associate at Innovation Network. While there, Katie led evaluation consultations including a multi-year evaluation of community power building in the Community Change Power in Places initiative; a developmental evaluation of the RISE Together Fund’s support to Black, Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian communities; and a capacity and impact evaluation of the Kansas Health Foundation’s Integrated Voter Engagement cohort. While at Innovation Network, Katie also co-led the Social Movement Learning Project, a project that sought to enhance philanthropic understanding and support for social movements.
Other highlights of Katie’s career included managing and spending down the Berger-Marks Foundation, a private foundation that funded young women’s leadership in worker justice and labor organizations; supporting the grants management and program teams at the Proteus Fund; developing a new field organizing program at Corporate Accountability; and running environmental advocacy campaigns in New Hampshire.
