Daniel Pelaez Gomez (M.A.), serves as a Senior Program Officer in the Program Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Department at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). In this capacity, he designs, commissions and manages internal and external evaluations of NED’s grantmaking at the project and portfolio levels.
Daniel is an evaluation enthusiast who joined NED in 2019 to support the modernization and growth of the NED's monitoring, evaluation and learning toolbox. His portfolio includes democracy assistance programs in different regions around the globe and from different thematic angles including media, anticorruption and human rights, among others.
Prior to joining NED, Daniel worked for the Organization of American States (OAS) developing projects to promote and defend democracy in Latin America and the Caribbean including in the fields of support to legislative institutions and fighting corruption. In his last engagement at the OAS, Daniel supported the establishment of the international Mission to Fight Corruption and Impunity in Honduras (MACCIH) and later became the person in charge of the monitoring and evaluation section. This learning experience opened the door for him to pursue an evaluation carreer.
