Research Associate Professor
University of South Florida, United States
Linda M. Callejas, is an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Child & Family Studies at the University of South Florida. An applied anthropologist by training, her research is focused broadly on evaluating the implementation and outcomes of programs and interventions designed to address the behavioral health needs of diverse children, youth, young adults, and their families, especially those that experience persistent disparities. She has served as principal investigator, project director, and lead evaluator on numerous collaborative and community-engaged studies funded by the Administration for Children & Families, SAMHSA, PCORI, HRSA, NIDLRR and the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Her early research on the concept of community-defined evidence has contributed to innovative policy and provider funding in California focused on reduction of mental health disparities, scholarship focused on increasing equity in implementation science and practice, and child and maternal health practice change to reduce mortality and increase healthy births among Black mothers and in other diverse, intersectional communities. Dr. Callejas is currently working on a co-edited book-length manuscript on the effects of Covid-19 in child welfare systems using findings from an evaluation study she co-led with research colleagues and community partners.
