Dr. Guili Zhang, President-Elect of the American Evaluation Association (AEA) and Professor of Research and Evaluation at East Carolina University, is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in evaluation, research, and diversity. She has served on the AEA Board of Directors, the Editorial Advisory Board of the American Journal of Evaluation, and the AEA Publications Taskforce. Dr. Zhang has dedicated 18 years to AEA’s mission, holding key leadership positions, including Chair of two Topical Interest Groups (TIGs), Board Liaison to the AEA Publications Taskforce, and co-author of AEA’s anti-racism statement.
Dr. Zhang is an award-winning author with impactful publications such as The CIPP Evaluation Model, which she co-authored with Dr. Daniel Stufflebeam—a globally utilized resource—and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: A Comprehensive Guide. Her distinguished contributions have earned her prestigious accolades, including the AACTE Outstanding Contribution to Teacher Education Award, the Frontiers in Education Benjamin J. Dasher Best Paper Award, the Treasured Pirate Leadership Award, and induction into the Educators Hall of Fame. Her 18 years of teaching have been recognized with the Scholarly-Teacher Award and the U.S. government’s Outstanding Professor and Researcher recognition.
As a renowned DEI leader, Dr. Zhang has advanced access to quality education for underserved children, chaired the University of North Carolina System API Caucus, and hosted the North Carolina Inclusion Summit. She is the Founder and President of the American Family Education Institute and Co-Founder of the Art to Heart Foundation, which has mobilized 1.4 million people globally to support autism initiatives.
Dr. Zhang holds a Ph.D. in Research and Evaluation Methodology from the University of Florida and has completed postdoctoral training at Stanford University. Her international contributions, including keynote speeches and global outreach, position her well to advance AEA's mission worldwide.
