Shavanna Spratt is the founder of Da Hood Connect, a grassroots organization working to address and reduce barriers that Black and under-resourced communities encounter through education, advocacy, and connections. Da Hood Connect makes a positive impact by fostering the development of authentic relationships between community members and stakeholders. Shavanna also serves as Community Engagement Manager with Generate Health, where she blends her expertise in communications with authentic community engagement, to increase community outreach and engagement in organizational initiatives. She is a resident of Ferguson, Missouri who previously served as the Co-Chair of the Ferguson Human Rights Commission and appointed to the Missouri Women's Health Council. She is a Doula with over 10-years' work experience in the healthcare field and a great advocate for Black Mothers and Babies. Shavanna uses her voice through her podcast, ‘Da Hood Talks’ to engage, educate, and be a constant resource to the community. Da Hood Talks Podcast is pushing to make sure that the community voices are celebrated, elevated, and supported. Shavanna is often sought after for her voice and expertise with building authentic community engagement models. She recognizes the importance of dismantling racial disparities and has a passion for empowering others, advancing racial equity, and promoting community voices first. She has stated, “Community voices are lacking when decisions are being made for our various communities and I am working efficiently to change that narrative by advancing my own voice and elevating those in my community."
