Denise P. Krohn, Ph.D., Evaluator and Owner of Vela Learning, has vast professional experiences that lie from the local level to the international arena. For over a decade, she collaborated with various organizations, primarily non-profits and higher educational institutes, on multiple projects. Depending on the nature of the cooperative, her capacities range to provide the services needed.
In 2018, Dr. Krohn earned her doctorate from the University of the Incarnate Word in International Education and Entrepreneurship. Her research focused on the planning process for an international service-learning initiative in Peru. She also completed a master’s degree in Education Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership and a bachelor’s degree in Generic Special Education.
Her career started as an elementary Special Education Teacher in the San Antonio Independent School District. After 12 years, her path led her to work in higher education and with community organizations as a coordinator, administrative assistant, researcher, and now, evaluator. Some independent consulting projects in which she has been involved with include working with small businesses owned by women and assisting with an evaluation focusing a community college system and its students within the local workforce.
Since 2021, Dr. Krohn has been the Lead Evaluator for a project centering on religious sisters’ leadership development as they serve migrant and indigenous communities, emphasizing inter-congregational and inter-ministerial networks primarily in the U.S. and Mexico. The project is based on an initiative by a philanthropic foundation, which aims to position Catholic sisters as global leaders in sustainable human development. Dr. Krohn is also serving as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the Texas Air National Guard, having deployed to Kuwait, and afterward, to the southernmost border of Texas.
