Liz Smith, Litmus Partner, www.litmus.co.nz, Evaluation Specialist (Irish, She/Her)
I co-founded Litmus and have over 25 years of evaluation experience. I embrace Litmus' values of future focus, collaboration, creativity, aroha (love), and courage over comfort. I thrive on supporting emerging evaluators to grow their expertise and contribute to this amazing discipline. My passion is working with diverse and inclusive teams to explore, learn, assess, and enable change in complex contexts with many competing priorities.
Over the years, I have led many rapid reviews and multi-year evaluations to effect system change and enable positive outcomes for communities. Some standouts are evaluations of placed-based initiatives, initiatives to support people experiencing long-term homelessness, Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Courts, bowel screening pilot and services supporting people living with dementia and children and young people living with disabilities. I am currently assessing how to measure the social impact in social impact investing – an important change lever in striving towards an equitable tomorrow.
I am a member of the Aotearoa New Zealand Evaluation Association and the Australian Evaluation Society. I was Vice President of the Australasian Evaluation Society from 2013-2018. I am a professional member of the Royal Society Te Apārangi and the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
2024 marks my first time at AEA. I look forward to being in the USA, learning and connecting. Please reach out, and let's connect.
