Katie Moran, MPH, is a Health Scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Katie has evaluated public health programs for over six years and has spent nearly three years evaluating national, state, and local tobacco programs and policies. As an Evaluator for the CDC's Office on Smoking and Health, Katie served as the principal investigator for a study evaluating menthol-flavored tobacco policies and measuring their impact on tobacco use and behavior among LGBTQ+, racial, and ethnic minority populations across the U.S. She also provided evaluation-related technical assistance to the Tobacco Control Programs of twelve state health departments. In the past, Katie served as an external evaluator for Georgia's Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, where she evaluated several suicide and substance use prevention programs that comprise the State's Opioid Response. Currently, Katie is a Health Scientist for the CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. She employs research, evaluation, and surveillance to analyze the social and ecological risks and protective factors related to suicide and assesses the effectiveness of suicide prevention programs. Katie now serves as a Science Officer, supporting communities throughout the U.S. in implementing comprehensive suicide prevention strategies. Katie received her Masters in Public Health from Georgia State University. Although originally from New York and New Jersey, Katie has lived in Atlanta for over ten years. When she's not evaluating programs, you'll find Katie gardening, hiking, and spending time outside with her husband and two-year-old son.
