Youth Organizing and Cultural Change Fund, United States
Carry is a participant-evaluator in the Youth Advisory Board of the Youth Organizing and Cultural Change Fund.
Carry is an architectural designer by profession. Working in Curtis and Ginsberg Architects based in New York City, her work is centered around tackling New Yorkers' concerns about the housing crisis by designing sustainable affordable housing. Before and during this, Carry has been involved in the realm of housing justice over the past four years as a volunteer. As a youth member leader and organizing committee member of CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities, she has learned the importance of building a culture of collective power in the community to bring change. Through this engagement, she was invited to join New York City’s Youth Organizing and Cultural Change Fund (YOCCF) in two roles: grantee and participant-evaluator. YOCCF supports a cohort of art and cultural organizations that build up youth for transformative work in the realm of social justice. In her capacity as a participant-evaluator, Carry works with professional evaluators and her fellow youth participant-evaluators at the intersection between the planning, execution, reception, and evaluation of the workshops and activities held by the fund. This evaluation model allows the fund to uplift voices and create a planning-evaluation feedback loop that contributes to a curriculum that is reflective of what the cohort needs at the moment in time.
