Laura Sherman, PhD, is a Social Scientist at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Dr. Sherman is a developmental psychologist and statistician working to improve the lives of mothers, children, and families. Working on the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program, Dr. Sherman sets evaluation policy and requirements for grantees implementing evidence-based home visiting models. She oversees multiple grantees conducting coordinated and aligned evaluations of their local programs in priority topic areas: family engagement, maternal health, and workforce development. Prior to HRSA, she served as a statistician at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) contributing to research agendas on mental illness and children, youth, and families; and, survey design and operations. Her peer-reviewed publications address parent-child interactions, maternal mental health, children's mental health, and substance use during pregnancy.
