Incorporating different perspectives in the evaluation of arts program replications

Abstract Information: How can different perspectives help us evaluate the replication of systems-level arts education programs? This paper presents findings from two recent implementation evaluations of federally-funded arts programs that were replicated in new communities. Interviews and meeting transcripts with program developers and replicators revealed three key areas where perspective influenced program implementation: (1) organizational culture, (2) relationships among partners, and (3) the position of the evaluator and program developers in response to local challenges. We will present findings guided by reflection questions rooted in culturally responsive and realist evaluation approaches.
