Janice Noga, MEd

Jan Noga is the owner of Pathfinder Evaluation and Consulting. Her experience includes: teaching in early childhood, professional, and university settings; more than thirty years’ research and project development experience in university and government settings - including the Hoover Institute and the New York State Appalachian Regional Commission program - and 25 years’ evaluation experience coordinating projects at both the local and state level.

Her engagement with systems theory and system thinking is of long duration starting at Cornell where she worked with Dr. Urie Bronfenbrenner in the area of human development and social policy. Her research and work has been based in ecological systems for human development with a focus on schools as dynamic systems for child development. She has also been engaged with principles of systemic design thinking through the Systemic Design Association. Through her work in evaluation, she has sought to incorporate systems thinking into aspects of evaluation design, data collection and analysis, and reporting.

She has continued her work and interest in systems through active involvement with AEA. She has been a member of the Systems in Evaluation TIG since its inception, serving as the TIG’s first program co-chair, TIG chair, and as a member of the work team that developed the Systems TIG’s Principles for Effective Use of Systems Thinking in Evaluation Practice. She is also active with the Ohio Program Evaluator’s Group (AEA regional affiliate), the International Society for Systems Sciences, the North American Society for Gaming and Simulation (NASAGA), and the Systemic Design Association.
