Paula Fearon, PhD is the CEO of the Analytics Research Institute (The ARI), which she co-founded in 2021 with the goal of enhancing research impact, promoting evidence-based decision-making, supporting workforce development, and fostering collaboration and innovation. Paula also holds a leadership role at Lexical Intelligence, a company she joined shortly after its startup in 2015.
With over decades of expertise in biomedical research, science policy, and portfolio analysis, Paula has led analytic services providing cutting-edge tools and analyses to research administrators and funding agencies to enhance data-driven decision-making. Prior to her time at Lexical she provided expertise to the Office of Portfolio Analysis at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she implemented a pioneering training program that continues to support the scientific community in conducting effective analyses of the NIH research portfolio.
Dr. Fearon earned her B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Edinburgh, her M.Sc. in Forensic Science from the University of Strathclyde, and her Ph.D. from Newcastle University. Her leadership and expertise have positioned her as a key figure in bridging biomedical research with actionable insights for funders and policymakers in the US.
