Kim van der Woerd is a member of the ‘Namgis First Nation from Alert Bay, BC. Kim founded Reciprocal Consulting Inc, an Indigenous evaluation firm in 2003; since that time, our team has conducted over 450 unique evaluations and research projects. Kim completed her PhD in Psychology at Simon Fraser University and her dissertation research focused on a comprehensive participatory evaluation of a Federally funded First Nations substance abuse treatment centre. This dissertation was the recipient of the Micheal Scriven Dissertation Award for Outstanding Contribution to Evaluation Methodology, Theory or Practice. Kim is also the recipient of the Canadian Evaluation Society Contributions to Evaluation in Canada Award (2014). More recently, Kim was awarded the BC Community Achievement and Mitchell Award of Distinction through the BC Achievement Foundation. Kim has 28 years of experience conducting local, provincial and national program evaluations, and conducting research in a broad range of topics related to Indigenous wellness. Kim currently teaches at Simon Fraser University and the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity. Kim has served on many local and national boards. Kim’s current role at RCI is Lead for Strategy and Relations.
