Research Associate
Rockman et al Cooperative, United States
Maggie Deagon is a research associate at Rockman et al Cooperative, who holds a master of education in human development from the Harvard Graduate School of Education ('22). Her years of direct work with students in both informal and classroom settings inspire her to center students’ voices and visions of transformation in her research and evaluation work. Prior to joining Rockman, Maggie taught high school students in the United States and abroad and mentored middle school girls on topics such as healthy relationships and identity. While pursuing her master’s at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, she collaborated with high school student activists in the Massachusetts Department of Education’s Safe Schools Program for LGBTQ Students on a critical participatory action research project to illuminate students’ experiences with gender neutral bathrooms and encourage school culture change. At Rockman, her projects have broadened to include adult learners and educators, in settings ranging from museums to research institutes, but her heart is with adolescents. In all her work, she strives to bring a critical lens and human-centered approach, inviting participants into the research and evaluation process to co-create program stories.
