Dr. Nan Yang is a Survey Researcher at the Mary E. Walsh Center for Thriving Children, Boston College. Dr. Yang holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from University of Cincinnati, with a concentration in Second Language Studies and Cognitive Linguistics. Her research focuses on examining L1 influence on L2 acquisition from a cognitive perspective. In addition, Dr. Yang has substantive experience with program evaluation and survey methodology from her previous training and work at University of Cincinnati Evaluation Services Center. In her previous role, she supported the evaluation work on a variety of topics including education, public health, and social justice. Her current work at the Mary E. Walsh Center for Thriving Children focuses on efforts around primary data collection, including the development and testing of instruments (e.g., survey, interview/focus group guides), the management of data collection, and the analysis and dissemination of data and findings.
