Debbie Gowensmith, Ph.D., is vice-president of Groundswell Services, Inc., where she supports equity-building movements by providing participatory evaluation, community-based research, planning, and facilitation. Debbie received her M.S. in International Economic Development from Eastern University and her Ph.D. in Research Methods and Statistics at the University of Denver. She has more than a decade of experience as an evaluation practitioner, specializing in culturally responsive, participatory evaluation methods as well as evaluation of collaborative networks. With a background in community development, Debbie spent almost two decades working with multicultural community groups on three continents to pursue environmental, economic, and educational goals. Her experience includes co-founding and directing a nonprofit organization that supported Hawaiian communities to reclaim stewardship of the places where they live, work and play. She is the 2024 past president for the Colorado Evaluation Network, the local affiliate of the American Evaluation Association.
