63 - Amplifying Voices, Weaving a Tapestry: A Collaborative Journey in STEM Education Evaluation

Abstract Information: Standardized metrics and traditional approaches have been the dominant forces in the STEM education evaluation narrative, which has stifled the diverse voices that are vital to its future. We invite you to collaborate with emerging evaluators on the creation of a new story that aims to dismantle the 'one-size-fits-all' model (Renzulli & Reis, 2021). We will embark on a journey through the rich tapestry of approaches used by academic, private, and public sector STEM education evaluators, exploring the philosophical underpinnings and human stories that shape their methods. Through storytelling and impactful visuals, we will unveil the lessons learned, challenges faced, and aspirations of new, emerging, and seasoned evaluators, highlighting how their diverse perspectives are reshaping the STEM education evaluation field (Patton, 2020). A facilitated roundtable discussion will create a platform for experience sharing, regardless of attendees position on the evaluation journey, fostering an exchange between generations and a critical examination of the current landscape. Together, we will identify opportunities for inclusivity and innovation, aiming to create a future where diverse voices are heard, new ideas are valued, and human impact becomes paramount. During this collaborative session, one-third of the time is dedicated to storytelling and reflection, with the remaining time spent on open discussions, group sharing, and brainstorming. Let's break the mold and rewrite the story of STEM education evaluation, together. We invite you to uplift new voices, encourage fresh ideas, and foster a truly inclusive environment where all evaluators, regardless of background or experience, have a seat at the table. Together, we can shape a better future for STEM education evaluation that meets the needs of all stakeholders and thrives in an environment of inclusivity, innovation, and impactful practice.
