116 - Bridging Program Evaluation with Implementation Science: Leveraging the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR)
Stream: Evaluation Foundations and Methodology
Friday, October 25, 2024
12:45 PM - 1:15 PM PST
Location: Exhibit Hall A
Abstract Information: Program evaluations traditionally focus on assessing the effectiveness of interventions within specific contexts, often overlooking the crucial role of implementation factors in determining program success. Despite the existence of process and implementation evaluations, there remains a gap in the generalized understanding of how program settings influence outcomes and predict successful implementation. This birds of a feather session is geared to have discussion about how implementation science, a field that examines the dynamic interplay between interventions and their contexts, can help close this gap. Evaluations informed by implementation science offer a comprehensive understanding of intervention components, contextual characteristics, implementation processes, and outcomes to create more accurate and meaningful evaluation findings.
